Frequently Asked Questions

What’s inside a vege bag?

Each week you’ll get a colourful mix of 7 fresh, organically grown vegetables, picked at their peak. All grown regeneratively, full of flavour and nutrients — and packed with care. Bags often include:

  • Salad mix including heirloom oakleaf, red cos, and baby leaf greens
  • Root veges such as carrots, beetroot, and radishes
  • Herbs and microgreens like spring onions, coriander, and parsley
  • Seasonal picks — from caulis and cabbages to tomatoes and cucumbers
  • Leafy greens like kale, spinach, and silverbeet

How much do I need to pay for a vege bag?

We use a pay-what-you-can system with a pay-it-forward option, so everyone can access fresh, local kai. If you’re struggling financially, pay less. If you’re financially comfortable, please pay more — your extra support helps make kai affordable for others.

Just choose the price that fits your means — and your values.

We suggest $34 per bag as a guide — this is our estimated break-even point, which helps cover fair wages for our growers and the cost of ethically sourced inputs like seeds ect.

Can I get a one-off vege bag?

We don’t offer one-off bags. Part of what keeps our vege bags affordable is the commitment from subscribers to get a weekly vege bag for a whole season (e.g all of winter). This lets our growers plan crops in advance, minimising waste and keeping our admin simple. This also ensures you get the freshest local veges each week. If your situation changes, just give us two weeks’ notice to cancel.

What if the farm has a crop failure or shortage?

In the event of a crop failure or shortage  we source vegetables from trusted local growers such as Broad view Organics or  Streamside Organics.  This helps us ensure your vege bags stay full and fresh every week. Occasionally if organically grown produce is not available we will source produce from a local ‘spray-free’ farm such as David Lucas Farm in Kaiapoi.

Can I choose what’s in my bag?

To keep things simple and fresh, each bag is curated by the lead grower Wilby based on what’s ripe and ready to harvest — it’s a true “Farmer’s Choice.” This helps us reduce waste, support sustainable growing, and deliver the freshest produce possible.

Do you use any pesticides, herbicides or chemicals?

No way. We grow to organic standards in the heart of Otautahi.  Once we have our new growing site established we will pursue organic certification with a NZ wide Organic certification body.

Can I pause or cancel my vege bag?

Yes — just give us two weeks’ notice. If you’re pausing for a while and we have a waitlist, we may offer your spot to someone else so kai doesn’t go to waste. We want every vege bag to be eaten, not left behind while folks are on holiday!

How do payments work?

To keep things simple on our end (less time on the computer, more time growing your kai!), we use Stripe — a secure, globally trusted payment system.

You can pay using credit card, debit card, or automatic direct debit. Payments are processed automatically each week, making things easy for both you and us.

Do you do deliveries?

To keep things simple we only offer pick up locations. If you dont see a pick up location that is convenient for you. Please reach out and we can see if we can arrange for a new pickup location.
